New Edinburgh

Bordered by the Rideau River and Stanley Park to the west, Beechwood Avenue to the south, and neighbouring Rockcliffe Park and Lindenlea to the north and east, New Edinburgh is one of Ottawa’s most prestigious and historically significant urban communities.

Founded in 1829 by Thomas McKay, one of the builders of the Rideau Canal, the neighbourhood retains a strong heritage identity and is designated as a conservation district. These connections provide direct access to downtown Ottawa, the ByWard Market, and major employment centres.
