Old Ottawa East is a historic and highly desirable neighbourhood located just south of downtown Ottawa, nestled between the Rideau Canal to the west and the Rideau River to the east. Bordered generally by Nicholas Street to the north and Main Street and Riverdale Avenue to the south, it sits directly adjacent to Sandy Hill and Old Ottawa South, offering residents an exceptional central location with a strong village-like feel.

Originally known as the suburban community of Archville, the area was incorporated as the Village of Ottawa East in 1888 before being amalgamated into the City of Ottawa in 1907. Today, Old Ottawa East retains much of its historic charm, with a mix of early 20th-century homes, mature tree-lined streets, and carefully planned modern developments that respect the neighbourhood’s established character.
